Good news for Monday

Updated: Oct 15, 2019

OneStep Power is at the MTS DP Conference this week. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Mondays sometimes need a little help to get going, so we have compiled a couple of light-hearted pieces to kick off your week. Here is a round-up of the latest maritime stories to make you smile:

On 2nd October, the Ocean Cleanup announced that “System 001/B is successfully capturing and collecting plastic debris. After one year of testing, we have succeeded in developing a self-contained system in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch that is using the natural forces of the ocean to passively catch and concentrate plastic, thereby confirming the most important principle behind the cleanup concept that was first presented by Boyan Slat at a TEDx conference in October 2012.”

Japanese shipping group NYK is claiming the world’s first trial of an autonomous ship following International Maritime Organization preliminary guidelines for autonomous surface ships.
